Stavanger School of Chen Taijiquan

Welcome to Stavanger School of Chen Taijiquan

  •  Do you suffer from muscle pain, joint pain, or other illness?
  •  Do you seek a low impact training option?
  •  Are you an athlete considering complementary training to enhance you, and your performance? Do you wish an expanded perspective regarding your development
  • Are you a leader, teacher, or coach seeking greater mental balance, clarity, and toughness that gives you 'the edge' more consistently?
  • Do you seek greater mental calmness in order to better cope with life's challenges?
  • Are you simply interested in martial arts, self-defense, or Qigong?
  • Or, do you just want to try something entirely new?

Then you've come to the right place.

My name is Tami, and I will be your personal Teacher in the martial art system of Chen style Taijiquan. Mental balance and clarity, a strong body, improved health, and knowledge about self-defense and strategy. These are all working aspects of Chen style. As a fabulous perk, you will develop in a positive and supportive group that is generous with their smiles and laughter, helping each other to grow. It is a liberating free space to explore and develop yourself; mind, body and spirit.

So, where can you find us? We currently have indoor taining space at, 'Huset'
Kongsgate 68. Weather permitting, we prefer to be outdoors in the city's parks.

Several new-beginner groups are starting up on Tuesdays, morning and late afternoon/evening, so zip me off a message if you are interested and I will help you. We can also explore other days if that is a better option. You need no prior knowledge; just comfortable work-out clothes, your best smile, and a pair of sneakers.

Classes are taught using both easy-to-understand English and Norwegian, but you may speak Norwegian to me. The reason we use English is because it is the main International language used in the Chen environment, also because you will be learning a new vocabulary to something not previously known. You will also learn a few Chinese words.

What is Chen style Taijiquan? Chen Taijiquan is an internal style of kungfu. It is a classic martial art based upon physical conditioning, principles of good health/medical aspect, and mindful meditation; all within a framework of ethical living. It is a life path of discovery with a strong base of community. This short clip gives a glimpse of insight:

Here is a list of several teachers and schools of which I have personal knowledge, and can attest to their excellent quality for those seeking to study traditional Chen style. They are all accredited by members of the Chen family. Several of them regularly host teaching seminars taught by Chen family, and a few of these hosting teachers also train annually in Chenjiagou, China.

They are superb Teachers and fellow human beings with great working capacity, and compassionate hearts. The best of the best.
